Cosgard

Cosgard is a broad-spectrum antibacterial and antifungal preservative. It prevents the development of bacteria, yeasts and molds in cosmetics containing water: emulsions (creams, milks), washing products (liquid soaps, shower gel, shampoo...), gels and lotions

Dosage

0.2 to 1% in rinsed and non-rinsed product formulations. The higher percentage would be used if your product had a high percentage of water or plant extracts.

Formulation recommendations

Use between pH 2 and 7
Efficiency can be compromised beyond a pH of 7
Better compatibility allows the addition of the product virtually anywhere in the manufacturing process
Highly soluble in polar organic solvents
Anionic can cause discoloration as well as carbomers and some surfactants
